Driving Membership Forward

Metrics for Managing Membership

Membership KPIs I Metrics I Dashboards I Balanced Scorecards

Would it be helpful to have a simple and clear visual picture of what is on track and working well and what needs attention in the membership department? Would you like to be in a position to make well informed decisions? Would you like to be in more control of what is happening?

This seminar is essential for membership professionals who manage the membership resources and effort and strategically drive membership forward. It will show you how to best monitor the status of what is important, and alert you to what is on track and what needs attention. It will put you in the driving seat and help you to continually improve the team’s performance and the member’s experience.

On this seminar you will learn:

  • The background to & meaning of the key terminology associated with measuring performance, including metrics, KPIs, balanced scorecards & dashboards

  • The benefits and advantages of having a performance management system in place

  • How to sell this to others in the organisation, including the board

  • The correct sequence of steps involved in introducing a membership management system and the nuts and bolts of choosing performance measures & designing reports

  • What to measure: What performance indicators best suit measuring the impact of membership activity? What matters most?

  • How to measure progress towards your goals

  • How to communicate critical information in a more concise, visual and compelling way to the team, senior managers and the board

  • Advice on how to launch a program and how to focus everyone

  • The obstacles, challenges and pitfalls to be aware of and how to deal with them

  • The off-the-shelf software tools available to help you get up and running

  • What next? How you can apply this management tool to other areas of association activity, for example, to help regional chapters be more successful
  • Note: CPD equivalent is  5.5 hours for the seminar.

This is a hands on and practical workshop. It will start you on your way by giving you practice in developing your own performance measures so you have the shape of a customised dashboard for further fine tuning and refinement. You will leave with a toolkit.

The seminar is based on performance management theory. It has been tailored to better meet the needs of membership organisations based on the experience and specific needs of associations and professional institutes.

What you will receive

  • A list of useful resources - including references, further reading material and a list of useful contacts

  • An additional information pack containing which includes a scorecard toolkit and worksheets. These will help you get started.

What To Bring

It would be useful to bring any information you have to hand on:

  • The vision, mission, strategy, objectives and goals of the association and

  • The objectives and goals of the membership department
